Intro to 3D Modeling & Printing with Rhino Series
Are you a 3D printing enthusiast who has exhausted all of the free online tools out there and are looking to level up your 3D modeling game using NURBS calculation to create organic surfaces and shapes? Then this series is just right for you.
Rhino is a commercially well known and used 3D modeling environment for creating fabrication ready products such as jewelry, electronic enclosures, furniture, even vehicles. Because of it’s professional nature, Rhino has a steep learning curve. This series will make it as easy as possible for beginners to understand how Rhino tools are designed for 3D modeling.
Week One : How Rhino works. What a curve is. Curves to surfaces. How to create your first 3d model.
Week Two : Surfaces to closed polygons. Transforming tools. Workflows. 3D Print your object.
Series of Two Tuesdays, 5/12 & 5/19, 6:30-8:30PM

Making Wearables Series: Intro to Designing and Prototyping with the Flora
There’s been a lot of buzz about wearables. Aside from Google Glass, Fitbits, Jawbones, smart watches, what about talking shoes, light up gloves, lullabye singing pillowcases… What is something you’d imagine? You can never dream too big, but first mastering some technical skills can help you live it. In this two session workshop, we’ll facilitate a fun brainstorming around creative wearable possibilities, and provide an introduction to the Flora platform and how to program in that Arduino compatible environment. We’ll start out with a simple interactive t-shirt project (or you can bring in your own clothing item) which incorporates a single sensor to program. Included with the workshop is the circuit board, sensors, and other fabrication materials for you to keep. Get creative and take home what you make. (Note: If you’ve never sewn with conductive thread before, we recommend you take our Crafting with Soft Circuits workshop first).
Series of Two Wednesdays, 5/20 & 5/27, 6:30-9:00PM
